Fertility Issues
Fertility issues for women with a prolactinoma
Treatment with one of the medications described above will usually be all that is
needed to restore fertility in most women. Many thousands of babies have been born
after their mothers took bromocriptine and several hundred after cabergoline and there
appear to be no risks to the developing fetus. Occasionally other treatments are needed
to restore fertility.
Fertility issues for men with a prolactinoma
Treatment with bromocriptine, cabergoline or pergolide alone may improve your sperm
count and lead to the return of normal fertility, although this could take several months.
Additional treatment with sex hormone injections (FSH and LH) may also be necessary.
Fertility treatment for men is not always successful, but there is a good chance that
you may be able to father children.
